INTERNATIONAL SURF DAY AT REEF
At Reef, we believe in the spirit of the beach and the power of the ocean. This year for International Surf Day we joined forces with our long time partners Urban Surf 4 Kids and Surfrider to activate beach clean ups, introduce foster children to surfing, and stoke out beachgoers!
URBAN SURF 4 KIDS
Urban Surf 4 Kids is a unique outreach organization that works with orphan youth and foster kids. Using water sports as a catalyst, they teach kids how to first have fun and then give back to their communities and neighborhoods through local service projects. This year we're partnering with them to bring over 600 foster and at-risk youth to experience the healing powers of the ocean! On International Surf Day we participated by volunteering at Ocean Beach Dog Beach where we surfed with fostered youth and pups!
SURFRIDER + URBAN SURF 4 KIDS
Over 3 dozen people gathered at La Jolla Shores beach park on International Surf Day partaking in yoga, beach education and of course surfing with the intention of influencing change in the 8 young kids from Urban Surf 4 kids non-profit organization. The day included a leadership talk from Reef ambassador, Taylor Knox, about overcoming adversity, dreaming big and other stories around his 20 year career as a World professional surfer from San Diego county. To finish the day with a full heart and soul, Surfrider lead a beach clean-up that contributed to Reefs pledge goals to keep our beach’s clean and pretty for everyone to enjoy.
